Who we are

Knit Wits Wool and Yarn Shop is rapidly getting a reputation as one of the foremost wool stockists in the south-west; based in Penzance in the far west of Cornwall it is owned and run by Julia Hopson, also well known for her Guinness World Record Knitting Needles, which are on view in the shop.

This web-site is the culmination of nine months' work trying to copy the wool shop experience as closely as possible on-line. To this end, you can search this site by brand, colour, pattern and yarn weight - just as you can in the shop itself. In addition, our unique "yarn convertor" will convert how many balls of yarn you will need when you want to knit an item in a different yarn to the one specified on the pattern - just as the staff would do in the shop.

Four New Colours in Mirage!

King Cole has produced four new fantastic colours in their eternally popular yarn - Mirage. Mirage is one of those yarns you can never have enough colours of so these new colours are a welcome addition to the range. Mirage also has a fantastic yardage so in just 3 or 4 balls, you have a sweater - what could be better?!

New "Misty" from King Cole

Misty is an astrakhan-style yarn with graduated colours. Just 4 colours and 8 patterns, this is a lovely soft yarn with a nice selection of designs. The average number of balls for a design is 5 and at just £3.25 per ball, that's excellent value!

Sari Silk is Back in Stock!

We've just received a delivery of 5kg of sari silk - just in time for Christmas! The perfect present for the knitting-one-you-love or just a treat for you!
