Who we areKnit Wits On Line Wool and Yarn Shop. To keep up to date with what’s new, become a follower on Julia’s Blog!
Knit Wits On Line Wool and Yarn Shop is rapidly getting a reputation as one of the foremost wool stockists in the south-west; based in Penzance in the far west of Cornwall it is owned and run by Julia Hopson, also well known for her Guinness World Record Knitting Needles, which are on view in the shop.
Our online wool shop is the culmination of nine months' work trying to copy the wool shop experience as closely as possible on-line. To this end, you can search this site by brand, colour, pattern and yarn weight - just as you can in the shop itself. In addition, our unique "yarn convertor" will convert how many balls of yarn you will need when you want to knit an item in a different yarn to the one specified on the pattern - just as the staff would do in the shop.
When you place an order you will be asked for your card details and delivery address. From this our system calculates your postage and - if you are outside the EU - it deducts the UK VAT (currently 20%). Once it has done this you will see the final payment page and be asked to "Submit Order". Only at this point does the order come through to us. Up until then you can change your order as many times as you like.
We hope you will enjoy our on-line shop and will get the chance to visit us in Penzance in the near future.

Milano from Debbie Bliss
Milano from Debbie Bliss is new for autumn/winter 2013. It is a gorgeous, textured, tweedy yarn which produces a firm fabric - perfect for jackets and coats as well as warm winter jumpers. I have knitted the Peplum Jacket from her new magazine and can confirm that the yarn is lovely to knit with and equally lovely to wear!
New Winter Yarns From Adriafil!
Our new Autumn/Winter Yarns have now arrived from Adriafil in Italy and are truly gorgeous! Check out my latest blog entry for the details or - indeed - go to our Adriafil pages!
New Colours in Rico's Reflection
Following on from the success of Rico's Reflection last autumn/winter, they have now introduced new colours - some plain and some which knit into gentle bands of colour (Reflection Print). There are also some new patterns, including a lovely snood and gloves!
Cotswold Leaves Shawl and Filigran Laceweight
Having knitted Val Turner's Cotswold Leaves Shawl for my Olympic Ravellenic Project last year, I am very pleased that we are now selling the pattern and yarn as a kit! This was my first shawl and I found the pattern straightforward - and the finished shawl is an absolute beauty! Quite possibly the most perfect summer project!
King Cole Country Tweed Has Arrived!
This very pretty yarn is a bit like King Cole's Riot DK, but with multi-coloured tweedy bits thrown in for good measure! We think this is going to be a big hit for autumn/winter garments so start preparing for the cooler weather now!
